Glass’ works have been featured in many different places
Glass composed music for Sesame Street in 1977 and his song Pruit Igoe from Koyaanisqatsi appeared in the 2008 video game Grand Theft Auto IV and the 2009 film superhero film Watchmen. He composed the theme music for the 2005 television series Night Stalker, and in 1998 he appeared in as a keyboard player in The Truman Show.

He has been recognized by the Academy
Glass has received 3 Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score for the films Kundun (1997), The Hours (2002) and Notes on a Scandal (2006). His compositions really pull you into the action and worlds of the films that they appear in.

Glass has created so much in a small amount of time
In the past 25 years, Glass has composed more than twenty operas, eight symphonies, two piano concertos and concertos for violin, piano, timpani, and saxophone quartets and orchestras; soundtracks to films, string quartets; and a growing body of work for solo piano and organ. He has collaborated with Paul Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Yo-Yo Ma, David Bowie, and many more.
His audiences didn’t always love his work
In a 2015 NPR interview, Glass stated “that in the ’70s, audience members threw things at him while he was performing.” Audiences weren’t sure to make of this future musical genius back in the day.
