How are seats assigned?

During the normal Friends summer presale, Friends of Convocations are seated first according to the Priority Points System. Friends’ orders must be received by the deadline in order to be eligible for priority seating. Click here to learn more about Friends of Convocations and the Priority Points System. All other orders are processed in the order they are received, so it is to your benefit to order early. After the presale, all patrons will be given the best available seats on date of purchase. Campus box office staff can assist patrons with their seat options. Please note that Elliott Hall of Music, Loeb Playhouse, and Fowler Hall do not have elevators and all accessible seating is located on the main floors.

Why do Friends of Convocations get priority seating?

Like most arts organizations that depend upon private support to bring artists to the stage, we provide donors with benefits and privileges as a way to encourage giving and thank those who help us keep ticket prices at a reasonable level for all patrons. While we depend upon and are thankful for gifts of all sizes, we offer benefits that increase with the generosity of the gift. See the Friends of Convocations page for more information about donor benefits.

How much are the fees and handling charges on my order?

Regular-season performances include a service fee; all listed prices are the final price. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster are subject to additional Ticketmaster fees.

How will I be notified if the show is cancelled or rescheduled?

If a show is cancelled or rescheduled, ticket holders will be notified by email. We will also post this information on the Convos website, Facebook page, Twitter page, and Instagram page.

I can’t go to the show. Can I get a refund or exchange?

We are unable to issue refunds or exchange tickets. If you are unable to attend a show, consider one of the following options:

  • Return PICK 5 tickets to the box office 48 hours prior to the show and receive credit for a tax-deductible donation. IRS regulations allow gift credit for tickets purchased as a part of a series, but not tickets purchased singly.
  • Return your ticket to the box office any time prior to the show and it will be offered to a student free of charge.
  • Give or sell your ticket to someone else.

Do you offer discounts on tickets?

We do occasionally offer special discounts on tickets. The best way to find out about them is to sign up for our e-mail list. Discounts are also available for groups of 15 or more for most performances.

How many tickets can I buy with my Purdue or Ivy Tech Lafayette student ID?

You may purchase one student ticket with your student ID, but that ticket must be used by a student. Non-students may not use student tickets.

Performance Policies

Can I bring a bag into the venue?

To provide a safer environment and to expedite patron entry, Purdue Convocations encourages patrons to avoid bringing bags to events. If you do need to bring a bag, only the following are permissible:

  • One bag that is clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and does not exceed 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches
  • Also permissible is one small clutch bag (no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches) – approximately the size of a hand – with or without a handle or strap.

Can I bring food or drink into the venue?

Elliott Hall of Music or Loeb Playhouse: No outside food or beverages are permitted. However, concessions are available for purchase and enjoyment throughout these venues.

Fowler Hall: Food and beverages are not permitted or sold in Fowler Hall. However, water in a sealed container is permitted.

Off-campus venues: The policy varies. See event details for information.

Can I bring my child to the show? Do I have to buy a ticket for a child on my lap?

While we encourage early introduction to the arts, we also wish to provide the best environment for all of our patrons. Children of all ages are welcome to Family shows. We request that children under 6 years of age not be brought to most performances, and infants on laps are only permitted at Family shows. However, ALL patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

How should I determine the age appropriateness of a performance for my child?

We provide recommended ages for selected shows that are appropriate for families on the individual show pages of our web site. If you have further questions about a show’s content or age appropriateness, call the Purdue Convocations office at (765) 494-9712. Staff members can provide more information; however, you are ultimately responsible for deciding whether a show’s content is appropriate for you and your family.

What time do the doors open before a performance?

Doors generally open 30 minutes prior to show time. Please email us at convos@purdue.edu for the most up-to-date information.

What if I’m late for the show?

Please allow plenty of time to arrive at all performances. As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, we cannot immediately seat patrons who arrive after the beginning of the performance. Latecomers will be seated at an appropriate break in the performance, as determined by the artists.

Can I photograph or record the show?

The use of cameras, cell-phone cameras, video cameras and recording equipment of any kind are prohibited unless by special permission of Convocations and the artists. Flash photography is prohibited at all times.

What should I wear to the performance?

There is no dress code for Purdue Convocations performances. You are welcome to come as you like. Patrons generally dress in casual or business casual attire.

Can I bring my cell phone into the theater?

Yes, but please remember to turn off or silence all electronic devices before the performance begins.

Other neighborly considerations

We want everyone to share in the enjoyment of the performance, and we seek your help in respecting the needs of others. While we realize coughing can be unavoidable, please try to minimize coughing or excuse yourself into the lobby. Unwrap any lozenges or candy before the performance begins. Also, many people are highly allergic to perfume and cologne, and we ask that our patrons take that into consideration.
