Fan favorites of the Convos 2018-19 season
Another season has come and gone here at Convos. With so many wonderful artists and performances, we had to ask our staff what their favorite performance was this year!
Dr. Amanda Mayes, Manager of Education
“My favorite show was Frankenstein – I enjoyed Aquila’s minimal aesthetic and seeing so many students in the audience.”
Jamie Vanderipe, Business Assistant
“Black Violin because I liked how different it was and how they incorporated the high school students into the performance and gave them a tremendous experience.
Mollie Siu-Chong, Art Director
“My favorite was Flor de Toloache because their performance was very powerful, and I like what they did with mariachi music.
Mike Armintrout, Associate Director for Programming
“The performance of I’m With Her combined three amazingly talented women (Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan and Sara Watkins) doing what they do best with sheer joy and comradery. Add in the talent of the opening act, The Brother Brothers, and you can’t go wrong. Since coming to Purdue in June 2016, I have not had as many patrons come to me after a show to tell me how much they enjoyed it as there were after the I’m With Her date.”
Monica Hennessy, Marketing Intern
“My favorite show was Young the Giant! As a member of Convos and Student Concert Committee it was awesome seeing the two come together!”
Bryce Shaffer, Director of Development
“Kinky Boots because sharing empowering stories of diversity is always in style!”
Dannah Williams, Marketing Intern
“My absolute favorite show and possibly my new favorite Broadway show was Kinky Boots. I’d heard so many great reviews about it and was so happy to see it myself.”
Colin Pool, Production Intern
“I loved Stomp, never seen anything quite like it. The percussive performance had all the excitement and energy akin to what one would expect from a gigantic Broadway show!”
Kathy Dietz, Director of Artist Relations and Operations
“My favorite show this past year was Jeremy Camp and Matthew West because I loved the opportunity to welcome Jeremy back home and “have church” in Elliott Hall of Music!”
Lauren Miltenberger, Marketing Associate
“My favorite show this season was Spamalot because it played off of the movie so well, had new elements, and was hilarious!”
Tressa Janes, Graphic Design Intern
“My favorite show was Cinderella. They took the story in a different direction and gave more power to Cinderella.”
