Heat up the risengrynsgrøt (traditional sweet rice pudding), leave a bowl of porridge on your doorstep to show appreciation for the nisse (farm sprites), and get A Feeling of Norwegian Christmas when tenThing, an all-female brass ensemble from Oslo, Norway, returns to Purdue. Led by trumpeter and group namesake Tine Thing Helseth and anchored by a seated tuba player, trombones and trumpets ring out as the musicians perform in a crescent formation or choreographed stage moves. You’ll hear musical traditions of the Christmas season from Norway to Italy to Ukraine, as well as American Christmas tunes and Disney favorites like never before. Helseth’s arrangements are full of surprise and wonder, just like the Christmas holiday.
