Soyeon Kate Lee and Ran Dank
Thursday, April 2, 2020 / 7:30 pm EDT
Whether it’s a kitchen pirouette or morning-routine pas de deux, domestic partners continually hone their couples choreography. When prize-winning pianists and spouses Ran Dank and Soyeon Kate Lee perform together, this literally means not stepping on each other’s toes. The Dank / Lee Duo puts four hands on one piano for duets The New York Times praised for “a huge, richly varied sound, a lively imagination and a firm sense of style.” These Juilliard graduates have performed alongside major symphony orchestras worldwide and co-founded Music by the Glass, a concert series bringing together young professionals in New York City. Soyeon Kate Lee and Ran Dank’s touring program features four-handed transcriptions of Felix Mendelssohn and Nikolai Kapustin, as well as a freshly commissioned piece by Grammy®-nominated composer / pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin.
