John Nine, longtime supporter and Friend of Purdue Convocations, passed away April 30 at the age of 84.

John and his wife, Janet, opened the door for all of us to more fully immerse ourselves in the extraordinary artistry of pianists, thanks to their gift of a spectacular new Steinway D Concert Grand piano to Purdue and as founding members of the Piano Giving Circle.

The Steinway D Concert Grand piano helps Convocations host performances of the American Pianists Association (APA) Classical and Jazz Fellowship Award winners every other year until 2025. In addition, student artists and ensembles also benefit from the opportunity to learn and play on an instrument with the Steinway D’s capability.

Everyone here at Convocations sends their condolences to Janet and the rest of the Nine family.
