Purdue Convocations announces its 2015-16 season

Purdue Convocations’ 2015-16 season, will feature more than 25 events, including an array of Broadway musicals, lectures, opera, theatre, music and concerts.

Highlights of the season include 6 performances in Elliott Hall of Music to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Elliott Hall of Music, including “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Annie,” “42nd Street,” “Once,” “The Illusionists” and Mark Morris Dance Group “Dido and Aeneas.”

Director of Convocations Todd Wetzel explains, “The internationally renowned Mark Morris Dance Group will further celebrate Elliott Hall’s legacy of world-class performances with its full-scale production of their landmark ‘Dido and Aeneas’—featuring Purcell’s opera performed with a live orchestra and soloists conducted by Mark Morris himself.”

The 2015-16 season includes a wide range in programming including three performances to showcase Purdue’s new Steinway D Concert Grand piano: piano dedication recital with pianists Sean Chen and Eric Zuber; Philip Glass “The Complete Piano Etudes” and the chamber ensemble Les Violons du Roy with Alexandre Tharaud.

The season will also include Artists-In-Residence “Huang Yi & KUKA” and Meklit, “Dawn or Doom 2,” family matinee performances and much more!

In addition to scheduled public performances, thousands of students from preschool through high school also will attend a series of matinees and artist-in-residence activities that will be brought to schools during the 2015-16 season.
