Manual Cinema will perform twice in March

Manual Cinema‘s “Lula del Ray,” inspired by the music of Roy Orbison, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, will bring hand-spun cinema to life for two March 5 performances at Purdue University’s Elliott Hall of Music.

The performances, at 4 and 8 p.m., were originally scheduled to take place in Lafayette Theater, but were moved to Elliott Hall of Music. These general admission shows are suitable for ages 10 and up.

Lula, a lonely girl in the desert, grows obsessed with a country music duo that inspires her to run away from home only to find danger, deception and disappointment. “Lula del Ray” is a largely dialogue-free coming-of-age story by Manual Cinema. The Chicago-based company creates large-scale cinematic immersions using intimate, handmade technologies possible: shadow puppets and overhead projectors.
