HUMANS 2.0 by Circa

Humans 2.0 by Circa

CREATED BY YARON LIFSCHITZ AND THE CIRCA ENSEMBLE

Saturday, October 28, 2023 / 8:00 pm

128 Memorial Mall
West Lafayette, IN 47907 United States

ABOUT THE SHOW

A symphony of acrobatics, sound and light–this is Circa, the next-level Australian circus company flipping their way to Purdue University after a successful 2018 engagement. For nearly 20 years, Circa has been stunning audiences with jaw-dropping acrobatics. In Circa’s new show, Humans 2.0, performers climb and catch each other during a series of stunts that must be seen to be believed.

This performance is a tightly woven choreography of bodies by Circa founder Yaron Lifschitz, pulsing with music by composer Ori Lichtik and revealed in Paul Jackson’s dramatic lighting. Physical limits are pushed to the extreme. Gravity is defied. Don’t miss the show that Australian media have called “spellbinding physical drama” and “a seriously sensational spectacle.”

Humans 2.0 is commissioned by The Mondavi Center, UC Davis.

Circa acknowledges the assistance of the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

Time Out Australia

A group of performers on a dimly lit stage supports a person balanced upside down at the top of a human tower, while several others stand around watching.
A man stands barefoot on a white stage, holding the arm of a woman who is suspended mid-air, as if spinning. Both wear loose, earth-toned clothing. Four bright stage lights are visible in the dark background.
Four performers stand in a circle, lifting a fifth acrobat who is bent backwards in an arch above them. Stage lights are visible in the background on a dark, minimalist stage.
Three performers in earth-tone clothing form an acrobatic pose on a stage, with one person balancing upside down on anothers back while the third supports them. Stage lights are visible in the background.
A group of acrobats in black outfits perform on stage, with two lifting a third acrobat high above their heads as others watch or prepare to catch, all set against a dark background.
Two performers in minimal clothing are on stage; one is airborne with legs bent and hair flying, while the other reaches upward toward them. Stage lights glow in the dark background.
A person wearing a yellow shirt and beige shorts hangs curled up on aerial straps, suspended in a spotlight against a dark, empty background.
Eight acrobats perform a balancing act on stage; four stand on the ground supporting four others who stand on their shoulders. All wear coordinated black tops and shorts, with a dark background emphasizing their formation.
Several dancers in minimal, earth-toned costumes perform on a circular, white-lit stage, dynamically stretching and reaching across the floor in various poses, while the audience watches in the dark foreground.
A female acrobat balances in a horizontal split position on the feet of a male acrobat lying on his back, performing on a brightly lit stage with a dark background.
