A weekend of music with Convocations
Next week, Convocations hosts two musical acts in the span of a few days. Martin Sexton and MercyMe perform on November 7 and 9 respectively. Both acts bring their tours to Purdue in a diverse showcase for a weekend of music.
Martin Sexton’s Abbey Road Show
Martin Sexton brings his powerful voice and heartfelt storytelling to the Abbey Road Show this fall. He performs the legendary Beatles album in full with his signature warmth and dynamic style. See him on Friday, November 7 at 7 p.m. in Loeb Playhouse.
Before Sexton’s Loeb performance during the weekend of music, join him for an evening of stories, songs, and connection in a personal setting. Thursday, he performs at a private home in West Lafayette. Experience an intimate house party with him before the main performance.
The New York Times calls Martin Sexton “unpretentious” and focused on “amplifying the sound of the ordinary heart.” Known for his powerful live shows and ten acclaimed albums, he’s earned praise from fans, critics, and artists like John Mayer and Dave Matthews.
With his multi-octave voice—hailed by Acoustic Guitar Magazine as “a master of dynamics”—Sexton’s latest project, the Abbey Road Show, features a full performance of the iconic Beatles album. Blending stories and folklore with his trademark warmth, he offers a fresh take on classics like “Come Together,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and “Something.”
MercyMe ft. Natalie Grant with special guest Sam Wesley
MercyMe ends their fall tour with their Elliott Hall of Music performance. Join us for the conclusion of our weekend of music with them at 7 p.m. on November 9.
MercyMe– known for blending pop, rock, and worship music—returns to Purdue by popular demand. The band rose to fame with their 2001 hit “I Can Only Imagine,” which inspired a 2018 film. Led by Bart Millard, MercyMe released numerous chart-topping albums and earned multiple awards, solidifying their place in contemporary Christian music.
Their “MERCYME LIVE 2025” tour continues this fall with nine-time GRAMMY® nominee Natalie Grant and newcomer Sam Wesley. After kicking off Oct. 16 and stopping in 14 cities, the tour concludes at Purdue. Enjoy an evening of worship and fan favorites from all three artists!
