Gravity & Other Myths Showcase World-Class Acrobatics at Purdue this Fall
Experience the breathtaking acrobatics when Gravity & Other Myths brings Ten Thousand Hours to Loeb Playhouse on Thursday, November 19, at 7:30 pm.
Featuring eight world-class acrobats, Ten Thousand Hours is a spectacular celebration of dedication, discipline, and the countless hours of practice required to achieve physical mastery (the so-called 10,000-hour rule). Through astonishing acrobatics, audiences are invited to witness the behind-the-scenes of extraordinary skill to discover that every seemingly impossible feat has a story of persistence behind it.
“The performance is a showcase of this company’s talent that extends way beyond
acrobatics, into visual storytelling, movement, and contemporary dance.” — Stage Whispers
About Ten Thousand Hours
Inspired by the idea that mastery requires thousands of hours of dedicated practice, Ten Thousand Hours explores the work that audiences don’t always see. Eight acrobats and a musician take audiences on a journey through physical skill—how it is developed, refined, and transformed into something extraordinary.
From balancing and jumping to flipping and flying, the performers investigate the nuances behind elite acrobatics while celebrating the determination required to pursue mastery. Accompanied by a dynamic live musical score featuring percussion and drums onstage, the performance combines extraordinary physicality with the energy, humor and human connection that have become hallmarks of Gravity & Other Myths.
Rather than simply presenting spectacular tricks, Ten Thousand Hours shines a light on the journey behind them. Every moment of breathtaking skill represents countless attempts, failures, repetitions and hours spent pushing the limits of what the human body can accomplish.
“Once again gravity and other myths bring shock, awe, and delight.” — Glam Adelaide
