Young jazz piano phenom Emmet Cohen returns to Purdue with chops that compelled The New York Times to hail him as “an obvious heir apparent to the neo-traditional jazz mantle.”

An educator and jazz outreach machine, Cohen helped us through the COVID-19 pandemic with a streaming concert from his New York City apartment to Convos audiences. He then recorded a live album at Purdue in 2022.

Backed by a rhythm section, Cohen is a talent that must be experienced live. Just ask Downbeat magazine when it gushed about the Cohen trio’s knack for making “virtuosic, breathtaking music carefree and entertaining, an under-appreciated, yet visceral, proof of early-jazz greatness.”
