DESCRIPTION:Youth Series\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrades: 2-8 \n\n\n\nOld school hip hop\, funk\, and breakdancing meets new school audiences when The Secret Agency hits the stage and classroom. This family-friendly show aimed at children in grades 5-8 is led by emcee\, producer\, and Grammy-winner Secret Agent 23 Skidoo\, who is rarely seen without a mic in hand and a purple tuxedo on his frame. The New York Times\n\n\n\nIt’s no surprise that the family-friendly music of Mexican singer-songwriter Sonia De Los Santos ignites instant happiness. After all\, the title of her 2018 album\, ¡Alegria!\, is Spanish for “joy\,” and we can always stand to have more joy in our lives. Specializing in bilingual Spanish and English songs that captivate children\, parents and grandparents alike\, De Los Santos’s tunes blend Latin American styles from Mexico\, Peru and Colombia. Her fresh\, upbeat live performances transform songs about butterfly migration and feeling grateful for your family into dance-in-your-seat fun. On this tour\, De Los Santos will showcase new songs from her 2021 album\, Esperanza\, which is Spanish for something else we can always use more of—hope. \n\n\n\nPurdue Convocations is honored to host Sonia De Los Santos and her ensemble as the 2022 Outreach Artist-in-Residence. In this capacity\, De Los Santos will visit area schools\, share stories\, music and inspiration with P-12 students\, connect with Purdue students in formal and informal settings\, and offer a free public engagement to the Greater Lafayette community. \n\n\n\nSonia de los santos\, de la ciudad de México\, realizará su show demostrando cómo las canciones de su ciudad natal han enriquecido su vida en los Estados Unidos y viceversa. La compositora llamó el título de su álbum de 2018 “Alegría” cuya interpretación reside en que siempre podemos soportar tener más alegría en nuestras vidas. Sonia de los Santos está especializada en canciones bilingües en español e inglés que cautivan a niños\, padres y abuelos por igual. Las melodías se componen de una mezcla de estilos latinoamericanos pertenecientes de México\, Perú y Colombia.
