Songbird Music READ MORE\n\n\n\nThe repertoire of string quartet ATLYS consists of unique covers of pop and rock hits\, striking original compositions\, and a dose of classics. The quartet’s energetic musicians are masterful talents—mobile and motivated in the digital age. They are also sought-after studio musicians in their Chicago homebase and beyond. During the pandemic\, ATLYS found a niche in providing original string loops and hooks for electronic music producers and hip hop artists alike. The group’s upcoming Convocations residency will be a homecoming for violinist Jinty McTavish\, who made her solo debut with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra at age 10. She will help lead ATLYS through several performances in the Greater Lafayette community\, including MatchBOX Coworking Studio\, Greyhouse Coffee\, Purdue Memorial Union\, area high schools\, retirement communities\, and pop-up outdoor performances on campus. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUPPORT FROM

At the core of the music’s upbeat energy and unfiltered lyrics\, you’ll hear who he was before and who he became — almost in real-time. The Vermont singer still pens songs straight from the heart and still cracks jokes with his signature\, self-deprecating sense of humor; he’s just changed in all of the right ways (and chronicled them via his songwriting). \n\n\n\nHe gained that understanding through quite the journey from small town Vermont to global renown. He’s racked up over one billion streams\, released two full length albums (Busyhead\, 2019 and I Was / I Am\, 2021) and a mid-pandemic EP (Cape Elizabeth\, 2020)\, picked up a Gold Certification for “Hurt Somebody” feat. Julia Michaels\, and performed on television shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\, Late Night with Seth Meyers\, and TODAY. Not to mention\, he’s collaborated with everyone from Joy Oladokun to Chelsea Cutler to mxmtoon to Quinn XCII to Gryffin. \n\n\n\nAfter 5 years of critical acclaim and global touring\, he sought an even purer style of writing and arrangement\, a challenge from within to convey a vivid representation of what he loves\, fears\, and struggles with most passionately. Now\, Noah continues to progress on his 2022 single “Stick Season” — rife with fluttering guitar melodies\, inviting vocals\, and homey imagery of the Northeast on the verge of a change of seasons\, the track represents another massive turning point for him. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Know Before You Go\n \n \n\n\n\n \n Manage Tickets\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Directions & Parking\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Program\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Generous support from\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUPPORT FROM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConvos is Self-Supporting.Your Ticket Purchases and Generous GiftsPower it All! \n\n\n\n \n Learn More\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBriscoeOpening for Noah Kahan is the Austin-based duo known as Briscoe. In the last decade\, artists like Lil Buck have promoted the city’s signature steps — dubbed Memphis Jookin’. In Memphis Jookin’: The Show\, Buck choreographed a showcase of the dance style\, known for its ankle-bending\, gravity-defying\, smooth footwork. He performs alongside 10 highly skilled dancers and a DJ to a soundtrack that evokes the energy of the streets\, hallways\, and clubs where the style was born. The Irish entertainer with a passion for promoting mathematics to young and old sold out his 2018 Purdue show and thrilled Greater Lafayette schools with four shows during his stay.  \n\n\n\nCarmo’s act features traditional\, show-stopping magic — plenty of small boxes to be stabbed and sawed with assistant Nicola McBride inside — along with multimedia trickery. The Guardian READ MORE\n\n\n\nSit a spell\, sip a pint\, and be spirited away to bewitching borderlands by this moving and magical comic fantasy. Based on the globally-acclaimed production by the National Theatre of Scotland\, the original artistic team of The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart has reunited to bring the runaway hit of the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival back to the stage–and back to Convos where we had a sold-out run in 2012.  \n\n\n\nInspired by the Scottish Border Ballads–centuries old songs\, speaking of supernatural occurrences along the England-Scotland border–the tale finds uptight academic Prudencia Hart departing one wintry morning for a conference in the borderlands. What awaits her is an enchanting and suspenseful journey of devilish encounters\, wittily wild karaoke\, and dreamlike self-discovery. Renowned Scottish playwright David Greig connects the dots between contemporary themes\, Scottish culture and identity\, and the grand tradition of writing for the stage\, by weaving a tale set in the current time but using largely rhymed verse. With razor-sharp turns\, Prudencia is manically funny and soul-searching\, often within the same stanza.  \n\n\n\nPrudencia is a full-tilt immersive theatrical experience. The actors will madly traverse our historic Duncan Hall\, magically transformed for the night into a Scottish pub. With action everywhere around you\, Prudencia takes you on an epic journey of vivid imagination. \n\n\n\nThe Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart… “Wow!”Supporting Innovative Performances at Purdue takes a village. Ticket sales for Prudencia covered less than 50% of the total expenses of this presentation—so without the embrace of adventurous arts lovers like you\, this rollicking journey across the borderlands would not have been possible\, by gosh…  READ MORE\n\n\n\nBefore you go\n\n\n\nWe’re thrilled to invite you to this full-tilt immersive experience. Please give yourself ample time for street parking around Duncan Hall. \n\n\n\nDoors open 60 minutes before curtain and a cash bar is available. \n\n\n\nDue to the nature of the performance\, latecomers cannot be seated\, so come early and enjoy a cèilidh – the grand Scottish tradition of good times\, good friends\, and aye\, yes\, the fruits of the pub\, beginning 60 minutes prior to curtain. \n\n\n\nRecommended for ages 14 and up. Contains moments of mild profanity and adult references deliciously delivered in rhymed verse with a Scottish accent. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW SPONSORS

Jazz Times READ MORE\n\n\n\nThe headliner for the 2023 Purdue Jazz Festival puts a spin on Diz that you have to hear to believe. Sean Jones’ Dizzy Spellz has wowed New York audiences for years with its interpretation of the late\, great Dizzy Gillespie through Jones’ trumpet prowess and his stellar band\, which includes a turntablist and the tap dancing style of Brinae Ali. Ali pounds a board in Appalachian style\, with her rhythmic feet miked and manipulated to create otherworldly sounds. The turntables give the music a modern edge\, inventing new expressions just like Gillespie did as he explored thought-provoking jazz directions\, incorporating bebop and later helping introduce Afro-Cuban styles to American jazz audiences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW SPONSORS

A classic tale of the machinations of power in political institutions\, William Shakespeare’s beautiful language combined with Aquila artistic director Desiree Sanchez’s striking imagery is a must-see for classical theatre fans. The story picks up with a victorious Caesar returning from battle\, but senators Cassius\, Brutus\, and dozens of others are conflicted about how much authority one man should hold. Fresh from success on the battlefield\, a triumphant Caesar returns to Rome a virtual dictator. Brutus\, Cassius and a group of like-minded senators decide that his undemocratic power grab must be stopped and Caesar assassinated. After the act has been carried out\, violence erupts on the streets of the capital and the country is plunged into civil war. The conspirators find they must contend with forces still loyal to the murdered leader\, led by Mark Antony and Caesar’s nephew\, Octavius. The play reaches its climax when the two opposing sides meet in battle at Philippi\, and the fate of a nation hangs in the balance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW SPONSORS

Following its take on Macbeth and The Great Gatsby last spring\, Aquila will present Jane Austen’s fan-favorite Pride and Prejudice. For more than 200 years\, the romance between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy has captivated audiences in novel form and the 2005 film version starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. This performance gives Austen fans a chance to see the love affair full of delightful and romantic misunderstandings\, class satire\, and English country dances come to life thanks to her beloved rom com. \n\n\n\nPre-Show Discussion\n\n\n\n\n\n2-part pre-show discussion of the play adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice with Professor Tara Cuthbertson\, Purdue University’s Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE STORY \nPublished in 1813\, Jane Austen’s ultimate romantic comedy\, Pride and Prejudice\, has stood the test of time. As the Bennet sisters try to navigate their way toward love and marriage\, Austen humorously skewers the hypocrisies and absurdities of the English class system\, and puts the thoughts and feelings of her women characters front and center. Filled with unforgettable characters\, this sharp social satire has it all: wit\, romance and lots of dancing! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW SPONSORS

SUMMARY:Christian French
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!\n\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor Christian French\, music isn’t just about self-expression—it’s about finding life’s silver living. The singer-songwriter and Indiana native has etched a space in pop music that examines the hardships of anxiety\, doubt and insecurity in a way that doesn’t brood or self-deprecate. Instead\, it filters his perspective through a lens of positivity\, connecting with a legion of fans who identify with his brand of optimism and authenticity in the face of everyday struggles. \n\n\n\nFans have witnessed firsthand how French has blossomed from a young upstart posting John Mayer covers to Soundcloud into an artist who isn’t afraid to speak his mind while concurrently developing his voice. With small waves of momentum and reaching larger audiences with his covers\, he secured opening slots on tour with Chelsea Cutler and Quinn XCII. \n\n\n\nAfter a string of hit singles like “head first” and “By Myself” and a pair of EPs\, French continues to embody a more confident sound that straddles pop and rock without losing the introspective clarity of its predecessor.  \n\n\n\nMusic for French is less about industry acclaim than it is about being understood by the fans that have followed him down this path. “I feel a lot of my crowd is of the young age where we’re trying to decide what to do with our lives and I know that’s a huge decision that weighs super heavily\,” he says. “I just want to help people feel more at peace\, understand that good things do take time\, and you don’t have to have everything figured out.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWITH SUPPORT FROM

SUMMARY:Cécile McLorin Salvant
DESCRIPTION:Salvant\, regularly and rightly\, is considered one of the greatest jazz singers of her generation\, but that label sells her short.—Rolling Stone \n\n\n\n\nA tuneful way to prepare for Halloween would be spinning up Cécile McLorin Salvant’s new album\, Ghost Song. The New York-based jazz singer wrote\, recorded\, and released the work all during the COVID-19 pandemic\, exploring not only the metaphor of the creepy ghost story but also ghosts of her past and present while feeling ghosted during pandemic lockdown. A French-Haitian phenom\, she returns to Convos as a multiple Grammy Award winner\, living up to the promise of her early career when she released her first record backed by Jean-François Bonnel and his Paris Quintet a year before she won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.  \n\n\n\nAccompaniment: \n\n\n\n\nSullivan Fortner\, piano\n\n\n\nMarvin Sewell\, guitar\n\n\n\nYasushi Nakamura\, bass\n\n\n\nAlexa Tarantino\, flute\n\n\n\nKeita Ogawa\, percussion\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSHOW SPONSORS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRelated Links\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWebsite\n\n\n\nFacebook\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\n\n\nSpotify

American Songwriter \n\n\n\nGetting discovered at a “redneck barn party” by country superstar Jake Owen makes for a heckuva story\, just like the raucous tales that make for good country music. Larry Fleet\, who opened for Owen at Purdue in February 2020\, is back— this time as a headliner. Soulful\, heartfelt\, and humorous—Fleet’s music represents his blue-collar\, small-town upbringing with pride. \n\n\n\nOn his new album\, Stack of Records\, Fleet appeals to fans of modern country. DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $32-68 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nToo good to be true! – New York Times \n\n\n\n\nThe “Boys” are back for their Purdue Convocations encore. Following a successful engagement at Elliott Hall in 2018\, the Broadway sensation that is Jersey Boys returns in all of its harmonious glory. The musical tells the story about the formation and success of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons\, but the spotlight shines brightest on all of those classic tunes from the early 1960s—“Sherry\,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man\,” just to name a few—all led by Valli’s unmistakable falsetto. Chronicling the group’s rise from New Jersey street kids singing on the corner to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame\, Jersey Boys is a living\, breathing jukebox stocked with great hits and heart. \n\n\n\nJersey Boys contains authentic “profane Jersey language” and is recommended for ages 12 and up. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUPPORT FROM
