Their 1992 breakthrough album Grave Dancers Union featured the international hits “Runaway Train”\, “Black Gold” and “ Somebody to Shove”. “Runaway Train” won a Grammy\,  and its groundbreaking music video brought nearly two dozen missing and exploited children and teens around the world home to their families. \n\n\n\nSOUL ASYLUM has released 13 original albums – including their most recent\, 2024’s Slowly But Shirley – with multiple live albums and assorted Greatest Hits collections. Their famous 1993 MTV Unplugged performance was released for the first time on vinyl as a coveted Record Store Day exclusive\, and November 2025 also saw the 30-year-anniversary reissue of their Let Your Dim Light Shine album.  \n\n\n\nThis upcoming show offers a rare opportunity to see SOUL ASYLUM’s Dave Pirner\, Ryan Smith\, and Jeremy Tappero perform an intimate\, one-of-a-kind acoustic set. \n\n\n\nJared Gertzen about David Pirner: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of the best singer/songwriters to come out of Minnesota since Prince. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollow Nurse Blake\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Corey Glover\n\n\n\nCorey Glover is an American singer\, songwriter\, and actor\, best known as the powerhouse lead vocalist of the Grammy-winning rock band Living Colour. His dynamic range and soulful delivery defined the group’s fusion of heavy metal\, funk\, and jazz\, famously highlighted by the 1988 anthem “Cult of Personality.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeyond the band\, Glover has enjoyed a versatile career in musical theatre—starring as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (2006 National tour)—and film\, notably appearing in Oliver Stone’s Platoon. He remains a celebrated figure in rock for his incredible vocal prowess and social activism. \n\n\n\nFollow Corey Glover\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Know Before You Go\n \n \n\n\n\n \n Manage Purdue Account Manager Tickets\n Manage Ticketmaster Tickets\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Directions & Parking\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Program\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Generous Support FROM\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADDITIONAL SUPPORT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConvos is Self-Supporting.Your Ticket Purchases and Generous GiftsPower it All! \n\n\n\n \n Learn More\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Dive Deeper\n \n \n\n\n\nDive Into Soul Asylum’s Inspiration Behind Slowly But Shirley\n\n\n\nGet an inside look at Soul Asylum’s latest chapter in this The Current interview with frontman Dave Pirner and guitarist Ryan Smith. \n\n\n\nIn their conversation\, the band breaks down how they approached recording Slowly But Shirley — returning to a live\, band-in-a-room feel with producer Steve Jordan (who also worked with them in 1990) to capture raw energy and chemistry. They also share the unique inspiration behind the album’s title and artwork: Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney\, the pioneering drag racer Pirner admired growing up\, who embodies grit and defying expectations. \n\n\n\nPirner reflects on his decades-long career\, the joy of playing together\, and how these influences shaped the sounds and stories on the record. \n\n\n\n \n ‘The Current’ Interview\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Enhance your experience\n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n BUILD YOUR OWN SEASON \n PICK5 + Save \n Did you know that if you buy 5 shows or more (not 5 tickets)\, you save an average of 10% off single-ticket prices? SUMMARY:Ax and the Hatchetmen
DESCRIPTION:Nurse Blake\n\n\n\n\n\nOpening Set by Chauncie \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStudent tickets start at $27.45 \n\n\n\n \n BUY TICKETS\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n ABOUT Nurse Blake\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAx and the Hatchetmen came here to party. The six-piece indie rock band from Chicago\, led by singer and guitarist Axel Ellis (star of Amazon Prime’s The Runarounds)\, have been headlining tours and releasing music since 2018. Rounding out the rest of the band are the Hatchetmen- made up of Salvatore Defilippis on guitar\, Hunter Olshefke on bass\, Nick Deputy on drums\, Phil Pistone on trumpet and Quinn Dolan on saxophone. \n\n\n\nThe group have released multiple singles and EPs since signing with Arista Records in 2023\, including their latest collection\, the “Constant Change” EP which features Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes on the single “Blurry Lights”. They plan on touring and releasing music for the foreseeable future.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThey will also party. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFollow Nurse Blake\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Chauncie\n\n\n\nBorn in 2022 in the basements of Purdue University\, Chauncie began to play small house shows in their local DIY music scene. While mainly opting for covers and crowd favorites\, the band’s chemistry was clear and they quickly became a regular act on the weekend show bills. Now (just two band name changes later)\, they have released their first studio-recorded EP which is available to stream on most platforms\, as well as for purchase on this site. \n\n\n\nTheir cohesion as musicians only became stronger once they began writing\, and was the pillar to their writing process. In hand with this\, their love for a variety of music genres not only connected them but provided much inspiration for their own music.  \n\n\n\nPlaying in basements and on stages alike throughout the Midwest\, Chauncie leans on their high-energy\, effortlessly fun\, and captivating stage presence to bring down the house with every set.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Know Before You Go\n \n \n\n\n\n \n Manage Tickets\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Directions & Parking\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Program\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Generous support from\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADDITIONAL SUPPORT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConvos is Self-Supporting.Your Ticket Purchases and Generous GiftsPower it All! \n\n\n\n \n Learn More\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Dive Deeper\n \n \n\n\n\nAx and the Hatchetmen talk to Tower Records\n\n\n\nVersatile\, crowd-pleasing\, organic\, and elevating are only a few words often used to describe the fast-rising Chicago-based indie sextet\, Ax and the Hatchetmen.  \n\n\n\nComprised of lead singer Axel Ellis\, guitarist Sal Defilippis\, bassist Hunter Olshefke\, drummer Nick Deputy\, trumpeter Phil Pistone\, and saxophonist Quinn Dolan\, the six-piece band channels a vast array of influences spanning generations and genres alike to channel just about everyone.  \n\n\n\nFollowing the March 15th\, 2024 release of their brand new single “Where tf Did I Park My Car?\,” we sat down with band members Axel and Sal before their New York City show at the Mercury Lounge to talk about the sextet’s journey and what more is to come.  \n\n\n\n \n Tower Records interview\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Enhance your experience\n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n BUILD YOUR OWN SEASON \n PICK5 + Save \n Did you know that if you buy 5 shows or more (not 5 tickets)\, you save an average of 10% off single-ticket prices? Designed for both current members and students new to Purdue\, this event brings together organizations that shape the university’s music\, performance\, storytelling\, and production experiences. \n\n\n\nHosted collaboratively by the Purdue Student Concert Committee (SCC)\, Convocations Volunteer Network (CVN)\, Live Events and Productions (LEAP)\, TEDxPurdueU\, Hall of Music and Convocations Interns\, and student bands and artists utilizing JamSpace\, the Creative Hub Callout provides a centralized space to learn about each organization’s mission\, creative focus\, and involvement opportunities. \n\n\n\nFor new students in particular\, this event serves as an introduction to Purdue’s arts and events community—offering the chance to ask questions\, meet current members\, and learn how to join organizations that align with their interests and skills. Attendees will also gain insight into upcoming projects and discover how to access hands-on\, pre-professional experiences in areas such as event production\, artist relations\, marketing\, technical operations\, storytelling\, and performance. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re already involved and looking to deepen your engagement or just beginning to explore Purdue’s creative opportunities\, the Creative Hub Callout is designed to help students find their place\, build connections\, and get involved in shaping campus arts and live events. Free pizza is provided! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs a new student\, this event gave me a clear picture of each organization and how to join. It was the perfect starting point for getting involved in campus arts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Know Before You Go\n \n \n\n\n\n \n LEARN ABOUT SCC\n LEARN ABOUT CVN\n LEARN ABOUT LEAP\n LEARN ABOUT TEDXPURDUEU\n LEARN ABOUT JAMSPACE\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Generous support from\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConvos is Self-Supporting.Your Ticket Purchases and Generous GiftsPower it All! \n\n\n\n \n Learn More\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Enhance your experience\n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n BUILD YOUR OWN SEASON \n PICK5 + Save \n Did you know that if you buy 5 shows or more (not 5 tickets)\, you save an average of 10% off single-ticket prices? SUMMARY:Peach Pit
DESCRIPTION:Peach Pit\nPresented by Purdue Student Concert Committee\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\nThrough bad breakups\, bouts of loneliness\, existential crises\, and even pandemics\, true friends stick around. Instead of bending and breaking\, their bonds crystallize in the roughest of rough patches. If friendship had a sound\, it would be Peach Pit. The wistful grooves\, glassy guitars\, and sun-kissed melodies feel like they could only be made by musicians who have spent close to a lifetime (or at least half of their lives) together. \n\n\n\nThe Vancouver quartet of Neil Smith (vocals\, guitar)\, Chris Vanderkooy (guitar)\, Peter Wilton (bass)\, and Mikey Pascuzzi (drums)\, trace their union back to high school. During 2016\, they served up the self-titled single\, “Peach Pit”\, eclipsing north of 78 million total streams on Spotify. \n\n\n\nThe group continued to gain traction with their 2017 full-length debut\, Being So Normal. Among many highlights\, “Tommy’s Party” and “Alrighty Aphrodite” both surpassed 79 million Spotify streams as the band graced the bills of festivals such as Shaky Knees Festival\, Bonnaroo\, M3F Festival\, Sea Hear Now Festival\, All Things Go Festival\, Firefly Festival\, and many more. \n\n\n\nIn 2020\, Peach Pit revealed You and Your Friends\, which DIY Mag hailed as “12 tracks of infectious indie-pop gems” while Atwood Magazine described the band as being “at the cutting edge of the alternative music scene.” Carrying this momentum into late 2021\, they kicked off the next chapter of the band and their friendship with the single “Up Granville.”. \n\n\n\nTo kick off 2022\, the band released two singles entitled “Vickie” and “Look Out!” off of their highly anticipated new album From 2 to 3. The album was released in March 2022 with focus track “Give Up Baby Go.” The band is in the midst of a completely sold out run of dates in the US and will be heading back into the studio in 2023. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVISIT ARTIST WEBSITE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS PERFORMANCE POWERED BY:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADDITIONAL SUPPORT FROM:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nPICK5 + SAVE Did you know that if you buy 5 shows or more (not 5 tickets)\, you save an average of 15% off single-ticket prices? NOW COMING TO PURDUE ON NOV. 4TH! LEARN MORE\n\n\n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\nWho knows what hip-hop would sound like without Grandmaster Flash? A musical pioneer in every sense of the word\, Flash transformed the turntable into an expressive and complex instrument\, and introduced the world to record scratching\, beat juggling\, and breaks. His mastery of these techniques elevated DJ’ing to an art form\, while his legendary parties in the South Bronx became the cradle of hip-hop culture. \n\n\n\nThis audiovisual lecture/demonstration is an educational\, entertaining\, and interactive experience that takes you on a journey with one of the founding fathers of hip-hop. As the architect of the quick mix theory\, Grandmaster Flash will show you how as a teenager\, he used his knowledge of electronic repair to experiment with different styles and techniques and bridge the gap between musical genres—incorporating elements of funk\, soul\, and disco into his mixes. Now\, as we celebrate 50 years of hip-hop\, a whole new generation will experience a once in a lifetime hip-hop history lesson from one of the creators and legends in the genre. \n\n\n\nServing as host and panelist will be Dr. Marlo David\, director of African American Studies and Research Center in Purdue University College of Liberal Arts. Matthew Joseph\, postdoctoral research assistant in belonging\, equity\, and inclusion in Purdue’s John Martinson Honors College\, will serve as a panelist for the event. \nVISIT ARTIST WEBSITE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA party in the Bronx on August 11th\, 1973 is widely considered to be the birthplace of hip-hop. DESCRIPTION:Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Live in Concert\n\nBUY TICKETSPICK5+SAVE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\nFeaturing a soundtrack that blends symphonic orchestral music with hip-hop\, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Live in Concert pairs a screening of the Academy Award® winning animated film with a full orchestra\, band\, and turntables live on stage. \n\n\n\nAcademy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning composer Daniel Pemberton created a sprawling score of original music that is complemented with song contributions by Post Malone\, Lil Wayne\, Jaden Smith\, and Nicki Minaj. The hip-hop based score results in a sonic universe that is woven throughout the fabric of the film\, supporting its themes of resilience and universal heroism. The Broadway Sinfonietta\, an all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra will perform the music live with DJ Damage on turntables. \n\n\n\nSpider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales\, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse\, where more than one can wear the mask. A superhero classic for a new generation\, Miles is an Afro-Latinx teen who is bitten by a radioactive spider in the subway and gains mysterious powers. Joined by spider-heroes from parallel universes\, Miles must master his new powers to save his city from a villain who could destroy it all. \nVISIT TOUR WEBSITE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is one of my favorite scores I’ve ever written\, so I am ridiculously excited we get to perform the world’s very first Spider-Verse concert. DESCRIPTION:Nurse Blake\n\n\n\n\n\nwith special guest Briscoe \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n ABOUT Nurse Blake\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs Noah Kahan changes\, he casts those experiences onto songs like light through a film projector. At the core of the music’s upbeat energy and unfiltered lyrics\, you’ll hear who he was before and who he became — almost in real-time. The Vermont singer still pens songs straight from the heart and still cracks jokes with his signature\, self-deprecating sense of humor; he’s just changed in all of the right ways (and chronicled them via his songwriting). \n\n\n\nHe gained that understanding through quite the journey from small town Vermont to global renown. He’s racked up over one billion streams\, released two full length albums (Busyhead\, 2019 and I Was / I Am\, 2021) and a mid-pandemic EP (Cape Elizabeth\, 2020)\, picked up a Gold Certification for “Hurt Somebody” feat. Julia Michaels\, and performed on television shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\, Late Night with Seth Meyers\, and TODAY. Not to mention\, he’s collaborated with everyone from Joy Oladokun to Chelsea Cutler to mxmtoon to Quinn XCII to Gryffin. \n\n\n\nAfter 5 years of critical acclaim and global touring\, he sought an even purer style of writing and arrangement\, a challenge from within to convey a vivid representation of what he loves\, fears\, and struggles with most passionately. Now\, Noah continues to progress on his 2022 single “Stick Season” — rife with fluttering guitar melodies\, inviting vocals\, and homey imagery of the Northeast on the verge of a change of seasons\, the track represents another massive turning point for him. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Know Before You Go\n \n \n\n\n\n \n Manage Tickets\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Directions & Parking\n \n\n\n\n\n \n Program\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Generous support from\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSUPPORT FROM\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConvos is Self-Supporting.Your Ticket Purchases and Generous GiftsPower it All! \n\n\n\n \n Learn More\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBriscoeOpening for Noah Kahan is the Austin-based duo known as Briscoe. SUMMARY:Christian French
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!\n\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor Christian French\, music isn’t just about self-expression—it’s about finding life’s silver living. The singer-songwriter and Indiana native has etched a space in pop music that examines the hardships of anxiety\, doubt and insecurity in a way that doesn’t brood or self-deprecate. Instead\, it filters his perspective through a lens of positivity\, connecting with a legion of fans who identify with his brand of optimism and authenticity in the face of everyday struggles. \n\n\n\nFans have witnessed firsthand how French has blossomed from a young upstart posting John Mayer covers to Soundcloud into an artist who isn’t afraid to speak his mind while concurrently developing his voice. With small waves of momentum and reaching larger audiences with his covers\, he secured opening slots on tour with Chelsea Cutler and Quinn XCII. \n\n\n\nAfter a string of hit singles like “head first” and “By Myself” and a pair of EPs\, French continues to embody a more confident sound that straddles pop and rock without losing the introspective clarity of its predecessor.  \n\n\n\nMusic for French is less about industry acclaim than it is about being understood by the fans that have followed him down this path. “I feel a lot of my crowd is of the young age where we’re trying to decide what to do with our lives and I know that’s a huge decision that weighs super heavily\,” he says. “I just want to help people feel more at peace\, understand that good things do take time\, and you don’t have to have everything figured out.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPRESENTED BY\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWITH SUPPORT FROM

SUMMARY:Omar Apollo
DESCRIPTION:“Apollo’s music stands out in the generosity of his lyrics and the vulnerability of his performance.” – ROLLING STONE \nIn just a few years time · Omar Apollo has gone from teenage strummer to one of the most hotly-tipped R&B artists of his generation. The Indiana-raised Mexican-American singer-songwriter picked up a guitar at the age of 11 and never looked back. His success began when he had 3000 followers on SoundCloud and his friend paid him $30 to upload his music to streaming services. His single “Ugotme” quickly gained traction · and to date has accumulated over 30 million streams in the US across all platforms. \nAfter two back-to-back sold-out headlining tours · memorable festival appearances at Camp Flog Gnaw and Lollapalooza · and a network television debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers · the now 23-year-old Apollo has transitioned from the freeform D.I.Y. creativity of those beloved earlier records towards a more focused development of his sound. He’s making deeper connections between his music and his Latin roots while laboring over each song in ways he never would’ve before. Part redefinition · part enhancement · the autobiographical new material he’s been working on for his upcoming projects promises to bring him to another level in his career. \n  \n

SUMMARY:DÖKK by fuse*
DESCRIPTION:“An unexpected synesthesia of pure cognitive escape” –Exibart \nWhat if data were a dance partner? Dökk is a daring\, dynamic journey into the subconscious\, the latest expression of artistry through emerging digital technology from Italy’s fuse*. Named after the Icelandic word for “darkness\,” Dökk uses software to synthesize real-time data from four simultaneous sources: Dökk’s musical score; the movement of performer / choreographer Elena Annovi; her heartbeat; and emotional analysis of social media trends at that very moment. This data mashup is vividly visualized through a stunning 3D projection environment. As each data source shifts\, each performance of Dökk becomes one-of-a-kind—evoking life’s own random\, unforeseeable whims. Both experimental and empirical\, Dökk illuminates invisible connections among us all in an intimate\, immersive fusion of light\, sound\, space and movement. \nThis engagement with fuse* is a continuation of Purdue Convocations’ Innovator-In-Residence platform—a forum for the investigation of new works that examine\, question and propose ideas in the fluid nexus where humanity and technology intersect. This production further extends the discussion of real-time interactivity from our previous engagement in this series\, the AI-driven musical improvisation of Shimon Robot and Friends. \nPRE-SHOW TALK | 6:30PM | STEWART CENTER 279\nJoin a member of fuse* for a discussion about the evening’s performance.
