SUMMARY:Creative Hub Callout
DESCRIPTION:Creative Hub Callout\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE PIZZA\n\n\n\nCallout for Purdue University – West Lafayette Campus Students \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Student RSVP\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n ABOUT Creative Hub Callout\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Creative Hub Callout is an opportunity for Purdue students to explore and connect with the vibrant student-led arts and live events ecosystem on campus. Designed for both current members and students new to Purdue\, this event brings together organizations that shape the university’s music\, performance\, storytelling\, and production experiences. \n\n\n\nHosted collaboratively by the Purdue Student Concert Committee (SCC)\, Convocations Volunteer Network (CVN)\, Live Events and Productions (LEAP)\, TEDxPurdueU\, Hall of Music and Convocations Interns\, and student bands and artists utilizing JamSpace\, the Creative Hub Callout provides a centralized space to learn about each organization’s mission\, creative focus\, and involvement opportunities. \n\n\n\nFor new students in particular\, this event serves as an introduction to Purdue’s arts and events community—offering the chance to ask questions\, meet current members\, and learn how to join organizations that align with their interests and skills. Attendees will also gain insight into upcoming projects and discover how to access hands-on\, pre-professional experiences in areas such as event production\, artist relations\, marketing\, technical operations\, storytelling\, and performance. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re already involved and looking to deepen your engagement or just beginning to explore Purdue’s creative opportunities\, the Creative Hub Callout is designed to help students find their place\, build connections\, and get involved in shaping campus arts and live events. Free pizza is provided! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs a new student\, this event gave me a clear picture of each organization and how to join. It was the perfect starting point for getting involved in campus arts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Know Before You Go\n \n \n\n\n\n \n LEARN ABOUT SCC\n LEARN ABOUT CVN\n LEARN ABOUT LEAP\n LEARN ABOUT TEDXPURDUEU\n LEARN ABOUT JAMSPACE\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n \n Generous support from\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConvos is Self-Supporting.Your Ticket Purchases and Generous GiftsPower it All! \n\n\n\n \n Learn More\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n Enhance your experience\n \n \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n BUILD YOUR OWN SEASON \n \n \n PICK5 + Save \n\n Did you know that if you buy 5 shows or more (not 5 tickets)\, you save an average of 10% off single-ticket prices? The production\, remounted from the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis premiere in 2019\, was experienced by 30\,000 people\, not to mention hundreds of thousands more around the world who watched The MET: LIVE in HD rebroadcasts. Notably\, The Met restaged “Fire” again in the 2023-2024 season as a testament to its unparalleled success and achievement.  \n\n\n\nBlanchard is already a celebrated artist with seven Grammy® Awards\, two Oscar® nominations\, numerous acclaimed film scores and albums\, and his recent appointment as Executive Artistic Director for SFJazz\, but with this work\, he created a new cultural paradigm\, breaking barriers along the way. Based on the 2014 memoir of the same name by The New York Times columnist\, Charles M. Blow\, the story is an excavation of a painful past and the desire to move beyond it.  \n\n\n\nThis “concert excerpt” version\, adapted for Terence Blanchard and his band\, the E-Collective\, features the intrepid Turtle Island String Quartet and guest soloists\, plus visuals by Andrew F. Scott. This work reveals the depths of Blanchard’s capacity to create a new musical world filled with pathos\, humanity\, and resilience. \n\n\n\nPerformed by Terence Blanchard and The E-CollectiveFeaturing Turtle Island Quartet and vocalists Adrienne Danrich and Norman GarrettLibretto by Kasi LemmonsBased on the book by Charles M. SUMMARY:A Conversation With Yo-Yo Ma
DESCRIPTION:A Conversation With Yo-Yo Ma\nJeffrey Brown\, PBS NewsHour Correspondent\, moderator\n\n\n\nPresented by the Purdue Presidential Lecture Series\n\n\n\nPowered by Purdue Convocations\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSTANDBY SEATING\n\n\n\nThis event is sold out. If you do not have a free ticket\, a designated standby line will be formed outside Elliott Hall if additional seating becomes available. \nIMPORTANT ENTRY INFO\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE EVENT\nPurdue University President Mung Chiang and the Purdue Presidential Lecture Series present the renowned cellist\, recording artist\, and humanitarian leader Yo-Yo Ma in a special engagement moderated by PBS NewsHour correspondent Jeffrey Brown. Through personal anecdotes\, thoughtful inquiry\, and musical interludes\, Yo-Yo Ma explores how culture can help us all seek truth\, build trust and act in service of one another. \n\n\n\nYo-Yo Ma’s multi-faceted career is testament to his belief in culture’s power to generate trust and understanding. Whether performing new or familiar works for cello\, bringing communities together to explore culture’s role in society\, or engaging unexpected musical forms\, Yo-Yo strives to foster connections that stimulate the imagination and reinforce our humanity. Among his many roles\, Yo-Yo is a United Nations Messenger of Peace and the first artist ever appointed to the World Economic Forum’s board of trustees. His discography of more than 120 albums (including 19 Grammy Award winners) ranges from iconic renditions of the Western classical canon to recordings that defy categorization.   \n\n\n\nYo-Yo was born in 1955 to Chinese parents living in Paris. He began to study the cello with his father at age four and three years later moved with his family to New York City\, where he continued his cello studies at the Juilliard School before pursuing a liberal arts education at Harvard. He has received numerous awards\, including the Avery Fisher Prize (1978)\, the National Medal of the Arts (2001)\, the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2010)\, Kennedy Center Honors (2011)\, the Polar Music Prize (2012)\, and the Birgit Nilsson Prize (2022). He has performed for nine American presidents\, most recently on the occasion of President Biden’s inauguration. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt sounds superhuman\, but it was just the opposite. It was fully human\, perfect and imperfect at the same time\, easy and difficult\, marked by attempt and reward. This is Ma’s skill. He doesn’t make his music something to marvel at. He makes it a gift. Created for you himself. The Denver Post \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nJeffrey Brown\, PBS NewsHour Correspondent \nModerator\n\n\n\nJeffrey Brown\, in a career spanning 30 years with PBS’s NewsHour\, has served as co-anchor\, studio moderator\, and field reporter on a wide range of national and international issues around the nation and globe. He has profiled many of the world’s leading writers\, musicians\, actors\, and artists\, and led inquiry into the status of cultural heritage in the United States and abroad.   \n\n\n\n\nPurdue University President Mung Chiang \n“Arts connects and inspires. Purdue is a university in the fullest sense when we welcome distinguished artists to our campus\,” Purdue President Mung Chiang said. “It is particularly exciting to announce the unique Presidential Lecture Series event with Yo-Yo Ma\, a living legend in the world of music and humanity.”

SUMMARY:Peach Pit
DESCRIPTION:Peach Pit\nPresented by Purdue Student Concert Committee\n\n\n\n\nBUY TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE SHOW\n\n\nThrough bad breakups\, bouts of loneliness\, existential crises\, and even pandemics\, true friends stick around. Instead of bending and breaking\, their bonds crystallize in the roughest of rough patches. If friendship had a sound\, it would be Peach Pit. The wistful grooves\, glassy guitars\, and sun-kissed melodies feel like they could only be made by musicians who have spent close to a lifetime (or at least half of their lives) together. \n\n\n\nThe Vancouver quartet of Neil Smith (vocals\, guitar)\, Chris Vanderkooy (guitar)\, Peter Wilton (bass)\, and Mikey Pascuzzi (drums)\, trace their union back to high school. During 2016\, they served up the self-titled single\, “Peach Pit”\, eclipsing north of 78 million total streams on Spotify. \n\n\n\nThe group continued to gain traction with their 2017 full-length debut\, Being So Normal. Among many highlights\, “Tommy’s Party” and “Alrighty Aphrodite” both surpassed 79 million Spotify streams as the band graced the bills of festivals such as Shaky Knees Festival\, Bonnaroo\, M3F Festival\, Sea Hear Now Festival\, All Things Go Festival\, Firefly Festival\, and many more. \n\n\n\nIn 2020\, Peach Pit revealed You and Your Friends\, which DIY Mag hailed as “12 tracks of infectious indie-pop gems” while Atwood Magazine described the band as being “at the cutting edge of the alternative music scene.” Carrying this momentum into late 2021\, they kicked off the next chapter of the band and their friendship with the single “Up Granville.”. \n\n\n\nTo kick off 2022\, the band released two singles entitled “Vickie” and “Look Out!” off of their highly anticipated new album From 2 to 3. The album was released in March 2022 with focus track “Give Up Baby Go.” The band is in the midst of a completely sold out run of dates in the US and will be heading back into the studio in 2023. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVISIT ARTIST WEBSITE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS PERFORMANCE POWERED BY:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADDITIONAL SUPPORT FROM:
